GS Performance and Technology - LDH (Lexus Dynamic Handling System)

LDH elevates driving performance to a new dimension. Together with EPS (Electric Power Steering), VGRS(Variable Gear Ratio Steering) and DRS (Dynamic Rear Steering) control all four wheels independently. At low tomedium speeds, the front and rear wheels turn at slightly opposing angles. This significantly reduces the turning radius for excellent maneuverability at low speeds, while sharpening the steering feel when driving along winding countryroads.

LS_Performance Front/Rear Suspension

The multi-link type, electronically controlled air suspension with AVS delivers a high level of flat ride comfort together with outstanding linear steering feel. The system links control of the suspension on all four wheels to simultaneously damp bounce, roll and pitch. The multi-link front and rear suspension incorporates FAD Shock Absorbers to suppress small and rapid oscillations, contributing to ride comfort and handling stability in various driving conditions.

GS Performance and Technology - Refined Aerodynamics, Adaptive Variable Suspension

The GS has been significantly reengineered to deliver a very engaging andpleasurable drive. In addition to enhancing the torsional rigidity of the bodyshell,Lexus developed an airflow management concept called ‘aerodynamic damping’.Inspired by the Lexus LFA V10 supercar, it moves airflow close to the vehiclebody to enhance handling, smoothes the flow in and around the wheel arches,and reduces air pressure within the arch itself.

If you are in a dynamic mood, select Sport S/Sport S+ Modes and the GSimmediately retunes powertrain and handling characteristics for sports driving.Sport S Mode revises throttle mapping and transmission shifting priorities toharness the sports capabilities of the powertrain. Sport S+ Mode, available on GSmodels equipped with AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspension system), enhanceshandling characteristics with a sports setting of the AVS, EPS (Electric PowerSteering) and VDIM (Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management), together withthe powertrain settings of Sport S Mode.

The GS is fitted with a 3.5-liter or 2.5-liter V6 engine delivering 312HP(GS350)/206HP (GS250) of highly responsive power. Smooth andvery rewarding to drive, this dynamic performance sedan acceleratesquickly up to top speed. Engineered for lightness and strength, the V6offers superb balance and durability, while leading-edge soundengineering creates an excitingly resonant engine note. LS_Performance Aerodynamics

Superb aerodynamics contribute to the fuel-efficient performance and quiet comfort of the cabin, even in high-speed driving. Refinements to reduce drag include aero stabilizing fins on the front door frames and rear combination lamps, and optimizing the shape of the front bumper.

ES 2018 Performance_ Multi material body

The ring-shaped body structure helps to reduce body torsion. A V-shaped brace behind the rear seats contributes to coupling rigidity for excellent stability. In addition, body rigidity is enhanced by the extensive use of advanced technologies including laser screw welding and structural body adhesives. Optimizing the use of hot-stamp and high-tensile steel in key body components also reduces weight while contributing to excellent collision safety.

LS_4.6-Liter V8 Engine

The outstanding smoothness and power delivery are the products of advanced engine and production technologies. The cylinder block is die-cast in lightweight aluminum alloy for smooth precise running, and the engine mounts carefully refined to suppress transmission of vibration to the cabin.
