The placement and angle of every speaker and the careful consideration of every component were essential in the development of the Lexus Premium Audio System in the IS F. And for the true audiophile, an available 14-speaker Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound Audio System uses 5.1-channel architecture and pushes 300 watts of power, immersing the entire cabin in sound quality that was once only reserved for six-figure home audio systems.
While aerodynamic styling gives the IS F a signature look, more importantly, it results in a balanced reduction of lift to help produce increased control at high speeds. The front fascia, hood, underbody and rear spoiler of the IS F have all been specifically shaped to optimize airflow over, under and around the vehicle.
The lightning-fast eight-speed Sport Direct-Shift transmission on the IS F was the world's first, and it uses a special lockup clutch for improved responsiveness, plus a control system that enables virtually instant manual up-shifts (as quick as 0.1 seconds) and throttle blips on downshifts, giving the driver full control over gear selection.
Carving up the road requires finesse. Double-wishbone front and multilink rear suspension systems include shock absorbers with stiff springs and large stabilizer bars optimized to precisely control body, wheel and suspension motion. And for increased traction and performance in turns, a torque-sensing limited-slip TORSEN® rear differential matches available engine power to changing traction conditions of the rear wheels.
Fuji Speedway has one of the longest straights in motorsports. At the end of this straight, "Turn 1" can only be negotiated after massive deceleration—which made Fuji the ideal location to test the IS F's brakes to the limit. The result is a Brembo® braking system specifically crafted for the hungry IS F.
At the heart of the IS F is an exclusive, naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine that combines the thrilling sports performance you expect from an “F” model with the qualities of a premiumcar.When it comes to delivering heart-stopping performance the 416 HP from the IS F's 5.0-liter V8 enginedelivers a 0-to-60 time of just 4.6 seconds. It's engineered to enhance high-rpm breathing, so while the driver gets a crunch of power down low, it also keeps building as revs rise, for a sense of unlimited acceleration that can't be measured in numbers.
Seeking to help assure safety in the event of an accident, the IS 300C features adual stage supplemental restraint system (SRS) driver airbag, dual stage SRS front passenger airbag, SRS knee airbags and large type SRS head and torso side airbags that expand the impact absorbing area to include occupants’ heads. When the pre-crash safety system determines that there is a likelihood of a collision with a vehicle or other obstacle in the road ahead, it alerts the driver with a display and a buzzer, and the pre-crash brake assist operates to increase the braking force when the driver depresses the brake pedal. If it determines that it is difficult to avoid a collision, the pre-crash brakes and pre-crash seatbelts also operate to help reduce injury due to the collision.
The rear centre console is finished with soft padding with a pleasant texture and incorporates two cup holders with lids.
