Seamless Full Hybrid Technology
Since Lexus first introduced Lexus Hybrid Drive to the world, we havecontinued to lead luxury car manufacturers by offering a comprehensiverange of hybrid vehicles. Generally, there are two types of hybrid vehicles:Mild Hybrids and Full Hybrids. In Mild Hybrids, the gasoline or diesel engineis usually the major power source, while the electric motor merely assists theengine. In the more advanced Full Hybrids, like the GS450h, the V6combustion engine and powerful electric motor work seamlessly alongsideeach other. At Lexus, all our hybrid vehicles are Full Hybrids.
Hybrid Intelligence - Regenerative Braking
When braking or decelerating, kinetic energy whichwould otherwise be lost as heat is recovered by the high-output generator as electric energy. This is storedin the hybrid battery for later use when driving inEV-Drive Mode or accelerating hard.

HYBRID INTELLIGENCE -Advanced Compact Battery
The two-tier, 40-module Ni-MH (Nickel-MetalHydride) 288V battery is installed in the luggagecompartment behind the rear seats. Its compactstructure helps ensure there is ample trunk capacity.
HYBRID INTELLIGENCE - EV (Electric Vehicle)-Drive Mode
With sufficient battery charge, EV-Drive Mode lets you driveat low speeds using just electric power. EV-Drive Mode iswhisper quiet, emissions-free and consumes no fuel. It issuitable for driving in slow-moving traffic or residential areasat night, as well as tunnels or enclosed car parks.
